Nicole Nugent-Gyesie has over 16 years’ experience in Nursing, working at Sheppard Pratt Hospital, a free standing acute psychiatric hospital. In these settings, her interest, passion, and commitment to working in psychiatric nursing and with mental health client systems evolved. Her nursing journey began in the role as a Licensed Practical Nurse; she returned to school shortly after to obtain her Bachelor of Nursing degree. Soon thereafter, she became a Charge Nurse, and later, a Unit Director, overseeing two acute units, sharing her psychiatric nursing knowledge. Her commitment to learning and growing in the field earned her a Master’s degree in Nursing Administration and Leadership.
She has over six years of experience working as a Psychiatric Clinical Instructor at the University of Maryland and recently joined Morgan State University as a Psychiatric Clinical Instructor. Mrs. Gyesie’s passion and dedication led to her most recent accomplishment of being a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. In this role, she adds to the body of knowledge of education and advocacy for mental health awareness in underserved communities. She utilizes a strength-based holistic approach in serving the community in her current work in an outpatient setting. Mrs. Gyesie enjoys and appreciates her responsibilities of teaching and supporting future nurses, understanding that her work directly impacts students, clients, and the communities she serves.
